Pastor Marky sent us the following letter this morning
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Grace and mercy from our Lord and Savior be with you
Our Situation in Haiti its very bad and sad, all over Haiti people are dying, kids and adults in water, for now many of them are going to die because they don't find food and clean water to drink , in a place or area they call Cabaret very near to Port -au-Prince where pastor Thomas Bernard is working as district president, more than 40 people are died in water, 13 kids and adults, they are asking for food and water and medicine. the mormon church provide Helicopter going to provide food and water to a few places because the need are great, and at Gonaives people are dying because no food and water, people in Jacmel, they move away from their house for many days, no food for them, no good water. we don't have to wait, we have to do what we can to provide some help to these who are in need. I am in Jacmel, it raining every day, and big storms, Les Cayes it is the same, big rain and storms , North East, North, Central Plateau, and West (Port-au-Prince), Tigaoves, Riviere de nippe, some areas in Jeremie, and Port de Paix, we are in needs.
My brothers and sisters, you have to be here in Haiti to see and understand what we are telling you right now. Please if you could do something please do it as faster you could do it. I try to call pastor Revenel I can' I know he is in trouble. Please try call him to see how you can help him, it is almost impossible to drive gonaives right now and to many other places in Haiti. We have to go to cabaret to help those people where more than 40 people were killed.
As people of God and Lutheran we have to show our Love them. I know you love us don't wait..... something has to be done Anyone who want to do something, individual, church, churches, organizations, World Relief, Board for Mission....
May God bless all of you pastor Marky Kessa

For several days we have been trying to make contact with anyone in Jeremie without success.
Our last communique was Sept. 4th
Yesterday's Miami Herald said Jeremie was cut off from the rest of the Island. Then today AP (link below) reports the US Navy is dropping food into Jeremie.
