Friday update 1-15-10


It is 4:05am PST.

President Marky Kessa just called me on my cell phone.

Digicell phone company has given him a free phone call.

We conferenced with Ketura Isidor in Indianapolis at Butler University.


Report by points:
-Port au Prince and Jacmel are in ruins
-over 100,0000 dead
-3/4 of the people are sleeping on the streets
-No power, no water
-No idea how many members are dead
-All Lutheran pastors are alive as far as he knows
-He is going to each church and holding prayer and funeral services
-Focusing on the hurt to keep them alive
-PAP/Pastor Doris Jean Louis okay/church and school possibly destroyed
-PAP/Pastor Thomas Bernard okay/church and school damaged
-PAP/Lay Minister Lophane Laurent-alive and helping others in PAP
-LeCaye/Isidor and Touloute family okay
-Central Platue/Pastor Jean Claude Marin okay
-Cap Haitian/Pastor Pastor Eliona Bernard: area shaken, but limited damage
-Fort Liberty/Pastor Daniel Paul okay no problems
-Gonaives/President Revenel Benoit okay/mission team in PAP waiting for flight to US/Canada
-Welcomes any mission team as soon as possible with: cash, medical supplies, water, food, clothing. Medical supplies can get into the country free!
-The need are overwhelming: pray and bring assistance immediately please
-He will be the one to meet people at the airport if anyone can get into Haiti. He will try to keep using Digitcell phone to contact me or others as available.
-He will call me back at 3:00pm CST today for a more reports and updates. I explained to him that the LCMS was meeting today at 1:00CST via conference call.

As brothers and sisters in Christ we pray for wisdom and the grace and mercy of God to prevail as we respond in faith and Christian love. Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy. Amen.

Ken,
For those of us that don't have a personal contact with Sue and yourself, would you let us know how we can go about making a secure financial donation.
With so much 'scam' popping up, I'm sure people would donate if they knew more.
Are there plans for such an offering in church tomorrow?
