Cholera in Haiti

No reports of any out break in Jeremie at this time.
Please pray for the people of Haiti

Dear friends, I know you are watching this on the news but I thought some explanation of the most effected area and our response to date might be of interest.

The place currently most involved is St. Marc, which lies along the coast north of Port au Prince. We have nine schools in that area. There is also some involvement in Gonives to the north (17 schools) and the Central Plateau (8) to the north and east. We have no information that anyone who works for us or those in our schools are infected.

There have been a few cases reported in Port au Prince but it is felt that those people were infected elswhere and no cases have of infection have yet happened in that city. The fear is that if it gets started there the tent cities will be devastated.

After I sent the information Dr. Bunny Pozehl put together to all our contacts in Haiti, I was able to speak with our manager/supervisor. He was grateful for the information because many of the people there do not understand the cause or transmission of the disease. He, our feeding program directors and pastors will be spreading the information in any way they can by calling, visiting, announcing in our churches and schools, via signs, etc.

Four of those we work with in Haiti have already personally responded that they are and will do all they can to spread this information and that they thank us for giving them this help.

Please continue to pray for the people of Haiti.
Blessing,
John Hall
